OVERALL PERFORMANCE
PROS
- Excellent Display

- Decent Camera

- No 5G Support
- 60Hz Refresh Rate
The POCO M5s is a solid contender in the budget smartphone market. It boasts a bright and vibrant 6.43-inch AMOLED display, which is rare in this price segment. While it doesn’t have the high refresh rate you might find in competitors, the AMOLED display offers richer colors with excellent contrast compared to a standard IPS panel of its competitors.
The POCO M5s is powered by the MediaTek Helio G95 processor, which delivers capable performance for everyday tasks and even some light gaming. It mostly comes in configurations with 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of storage. However, 8GB RAM and 256GB storage options are also available in some regions. Storage is not a problem here, as the phone supports a microSD card to expand it.
The camera setup of the POCO M5s is a notable strength of the device. The 64MP main sensor captures decent photos in good lighting, and the 8MP ultrawide lens offers some versatility. However, low-light performance is just average, and the 2MP macro and depth sensors are fairly unremarkable. Video recording goes up to 4K at 30fps on the main camera, which is a big plus for such a budget device.
The POCO M5 performs quite decent in its battery life. The 5,000mAh battery, coupled with the efficient processor, offers full-day usage for most users. The phone also supports 33W fast charging to refill the battery quickly. The battery section of the device is no way behind the competition in its class.
However, the POCO M5s do have some drawbacks to consider. The device lacks 5G connectivity, which could be an important feature for many users. Moreover, the 60Hz refresh rate might feel sluggish compared to some competitors offering smoother screens. With such a high-brightness AMOLED display, a higher refresh rate would provide a more responsive user experience, especially for gamers and those who spend more time on multimedia.
Overall, the POCO M5s is a great option for budget-conscious users who prioritize a long-lasting battery, a bright display, and decent cameras. However, the lack of a 5G network and the limit of 60Hz refresh rate are notable drawbacks to consider before you buy.
